Janet Thompson is an award-winning Christian speaker and author. Born in Taft, California, she now lives with her husband in the rural mountains of Idaho. Most mornings, she enjoys a three-mile walk and is known to delight in Keto.

“People ask me if I always wanted to be an author. Actually, I never dreamed I would become an author. My undergraduate degree is in Dietetics. Graduate studies are MBA and a Masters in Christian Leadership. It was a complete surprise when God directed me to become an author and speaker, but twenty books later . . . I know I’m right where He wants me.”

As a non-fiction, Christian Living author, Janet’s primary audience is women. Her ministry is to encourage them to be mentors and find mentors.

Twenty-four years ago, she started a Woman to Woman Mentoring Ministry at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. Because other churches wanted to learn how to duplicate this ministry for their women, she was inspired to provide a resource which would help them succeed. The result was Woman to Woman Mentoring: How to Start, Grow, and Maintain a Mentoring Ministry. Her complete work includes a Ministry Coordinators Guide, Training Leader’s Guide, Mentor Handbook and Mentee Handbook. “Initially, I self-published until contracting with LifeWay Publishers who expanded the four books into a DVD Leaders Kit.”

Her latest book, Everyday Brave: Living Courageously As a Woman of Faith was released in September of this year. Janet believes every woman is brave but vulnerable to feelings of doubt and inadequacy, which hinders them from living up to their God-given potential to be courageous women of faith. Everyday Brave includes dynamic stories of women in Scripture as well as honest accounts of contemporary women who’ve obeyed God’s call.

When asked for her advice for writers struggling with their first book, she said, “When beginning writers ask me how to get started, I recommend they attend a Christian writers’ conference where they can take workshops and meet with publishers, agents and other authors in all stages of writing. The key to a conference making a difference in your writing is to apply everything you’ve learned when you get home. Don’t wait! Start writing.”

So what’s on the horizon for Janet? “I don’t plan on ever retiring. The name of my writing and speaking ministry is About His Work Ministries, and I hope to be about His work until He takes me Home!”
