Lori Hatcher, a Lexington, South Carolina author is rockin’ it.

Literally.

She has rocks from all over the world.

“In our newlywed years, I’d collect rocks from everywhere we visited because we couldn’t afford souvenirs. I continued the tradition into the next generation. When my kids would travel, they’d ask me what I wanted them to bring me, and I’d say, ‘Oh, just bring me a rock.’ We’re now in the third generation — my grandchildren bring me rocks. My favorite is the one from Mt. Fuji in Japan.”

But rocks aren’t the only collection this Rhode Island native has acquired. She has an entire collection of baby teeth — hers, of course. “It’s prophetic that my mom saved them since I’ve worked for 35 years as a dental hygienist.”

And if you think her collections stop there, you’re wrong. She’s a mad-hatter of sorts, wearing many hats at once. Besides donning those of healthcare worker and author, she’s the editor of South Carolina’s Reach Out, Columbia magazine, a wife and mother, a women’s ministry speaker, and a women’s devotional writer. Knowing what it’s like to be hungry for God and starved for time, Lori set out to help today’s women find God in the busyness of life. That pursuit led to her book, Hungry for God … Starving for Time, 5-Minute Devotions for Busy Women.

“The more I read God’s Word, the more I fall in love with it. Because I want to help other people fall in love, too, I’m working on a 66-chapter book of unusual devotions, one from each book of the Bible.”

The following is an excerpt from her work in progress … “And we’ll one day live and reign with him in heaven forever. We’ll shed our slimy scales of sinful flesh and don the robes of righteousness Christ has prepared for us. We’ll no longer be hindered by the frailties of our human bodies. No more sickness, pain, sorrow, or death. We’ll receive rewards for the deeds we did for Christ alone – gold, silver, and precious stones – and lay them at his feet. Faith will become sight, and all will be made right.”
