“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted . . . to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes.” ―Isaiah 61:1, 3, NIV
Ashley brought this ornament home several years ago. She made the four snowmen with her fingerprints to represent our small family. I thought it was precious and couldn’t wait to put it out each season. I’d leave it hanging till spring on my lighted cherry blossom tree. In the dead of winter, it’s small presence sang hope.
Last year, I accidentally knocked this sweet ornament off my small tree. It shattered, along with my heart. My heart hurt as I carefully swept up all of the pieces and placed them in a jar. However, when I examined the contents, I rejoiced―our small family was still intact.
Families are precious to God. When they break, His heart breaks too. As our Heavenly Father gently collects each broken piece, He holds them in his loving hands and draws them to His heart. What we see as shattered, God sees as broken and redeemable.
If your family appears shattered beyond repair, rejoice that nothing is too hard for the Lord. Give Him every broken piece and allow Him to do what you can’t, and He can.
“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” ―Psalm 56:8, NLT
