If you ask Cindy Sproles what “real living” is you’d better put on your hiking boots. This Kingsport, Tennessee native who hasn’t budged from her roots in thirty-eight years would rather show than tell.
A skilled outbacker, she “had the greatest Girl Scout leader MOM ever. I led overnight seven-mile hikes in the Appalachian Mountains so folks could experience a bit of real living.”
So outbackin’ ain’t your thang? This multiple award-winning author of non-fiction and historical fiction will take you deep into the hills of her beloved home anyway. Through the pages and the eyes of her colorful characters, you’ll breathe in the crisp mountain air and witness the strength and courage of people rooted in her parts.
“Ain’t nothing better than risin with the good Lord ever day. A body has to stand and take in the blessin of the day. Say a little prayer. Be grateful for a moment.” —Edna from Liar’s Winter.
Cindy co-founded ChristianDevotions.us and serves as managing editor for SonRise Books and Straight Street Books, both imprints of Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas. She teaches at Christian Writers Conferences and ladies conferences and retreats across the country.
When not writing or mentoring aspiring writers and authors, Cindy’s creativity spills into scrapbooking and learning to use her Cricut machine, “which is almost like learning to work a fancy phone. I need a 5-year-old to teach me.”
Her broader vision and hope is “to make a difference in the goals and ambitions of new writers. I want to guide them to a heart that gives and a soul that listens to the call God has given them.”
Myself, along with many other writers can attest to the fact that she does exactly that.
