While doing research for Emma’s Quest on St. Andrews and Dundee, Scotland, I stumbled upon the history of the Recording Scotland Collection.
Since my father was an artist from Dundee, I loved learning about the heroic efforts of British artists during World War II to save the beauty of Scotland’s historic landmarks.
After Emma’s Quest was published, Jennifer Heeren featured me on her blog, and I wrote about The Recording Scotland Collection. It was established in 1942 by a British businessman from America, Edward Harkness. The funds for this project were overseen by The Pilgrim Trust and used to create a permanent, visual record of Scotland, emphasizing places most likely threatened by the war.
If you’d like to learn more about the collection, I’ve linked the blog article below and would love for you to visit Jennifer’s blog and check it out.
